Stats Rundown
Threes games were on yesterday in case you didn't notice in the whole Superbowl Scramble and fortunately no power outage were involved in any of these three.
PG Absence: What does the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics have in common? Well, both of their All-Star point guards are missing and have knee injuries (one obviously more serious than the other, but you know what I mean). The Clippers can't seem to function without CP3, and have now lost 5 of their last 7 games including this one in Boston. On the other hand, as the injuries pile up on the Celtics, no Rondo and Sullinger, Boston have managed to pull out a 4 game winning streak. Paul Pierce led the way with a team-high 22 points (7 of 16), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and the signature step back 3 in the final seconds to ice the game. That was nice and all, but it would have been better if the Celtics held on to the 19 point lead they had in the half. Eric Bledsoe had a good game in the place of CP3, 23 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Blake Griffin added 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
Elderly Abuse: It is still elder abuse if you are both old?
New Beginning: Two games into the Rudy Gay era, and the Raptors already look like a legitimate playoff team. Even though they would fail the Miami Heat test, they did manged to hang in the game until the fourth quarter, where the Heat decided to do Heat things. In the return to Toronto, Chris Bosh showed no mercy, going off for 28 points, and 5 rebounds. The other 2 of the Big 3, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade combined for 53 points. Rudy Gay kept the game close early scoring 20 of his total 29 points in the first half, while his partner, DeMar DeRozan drops 27 points. Yea, there is quite a mismatch in the production between the two teams, if you read it correctly.
Slipped: Stats-wise, Pau Gasol have looked great in the place of Dwight Howard, but Pau has lost more than just a step in his game. His defense is horrible, he can't hit anything in the mid range and is botching lay-ups. He had 23 points on 10 of 18 shooting, 10 rebounds and allowed to to happen to him.
Ball gets stolen by a rookie big man and then gets dunked on by a sophomore. The circle of life, everyone. As for the Pistons, Greg Monroe got 20 points (9 of 14) and 11 rebounds. Detroit had a chance to win this game on this play.
But..., Kyle Singler couldn't get the pass there on time, which is totally his fault because Andre Drummond could literally dunk from anywhere inside the charity stripe.
Oh yea, and this happened.
Kobe threw a lob to Early Clark with 0.4 seconds left in the 2nd quarter and is actually happy about it. This must end, this is not the Kobe Bryant I know. It is freaking me out, man.

Nate Robinson takes the Atlanta Hawks to the playground.
There are advantages of being small in the league, take this for an example. If Nate wasn't so small, he wouldn't have gotten through the terrible Atlanta trap and played a fun game of "where did the ball go" with his opponents. I reckoned that the Bulls might had a little more fun than the Hawks though, seeing that they took out ATL with ease and did it in the absence of three starters.
Kyrie Irving scored 13 points in the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter to defeat the Thunder.
This dude is unreal. He carried his team in the final stretches of this game by just attacking the paint relentlessly. Most guys at his position will usually settle or pull up for jump shots. But he opted to get into the heart of the defense, slicing through defenders and making ridiculous lay ups. Cleveland struck gold again, hopefully they will do the right thing this time and give him a good supporting cast.
Just a question for the Thunder, why are you switching on every single screen? Do you seriously think Kendrick Perkins can take Kyrie? Because if you did, you fell right into their trap. There is no place for Perk if the opposing team doesn't have an offensive threatening big man, so stop it Scott Brooks. Enough.

One Man Team: In his first game without the mask, Kyrie Irving dragged his lottery bound team to a hard fought victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Dynamic Duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 60 points, but it was no match for Kyrie's 35 points (12 of 23). In the fourth quarter, with less than 3 minutes left in the game clock, the unmasked sophomore scored 13 points to take the win over the second best team in the West.
Hot Hand: Coming back from another ankle injury, Stephen Curry showed no signs of rust, dropping 29 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the three, while dishing out 8 dimes. Harrison Barnes tied his career high with 21 points (9 of 11), and 8 rebounds in the Warriors' fourth straight win.
Horns: Without Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah and Kirk Hinrich, the Chicago Bulls still somehow managed to defeat the Atlanta Hawks by 17 points. Luol Deng led the team with 25 points (10 of 21), 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Taj Gibson added 19 points and a career high 19 rebounds. Of course both of them would play for more than 40 minutes, because you will never expect anything less from Coach Thibs.
Domination: The New York Knicks crushed the Sacramento Kings 120 - 81 at the Madison Square Garden. There is not much to say. Carmelo Anthony scored his 17,000th point, but snapped his 31 game streak with 20+ points when he finished with only 9 points on the night. Tyson Chandler grabbed 20 rebounds to become the second Knick to do it in two consecutive games since 1985-86'. Amare Stoudemire came off the bench for a perfect 10 of 10 from the field for 21 points and 6 rebounds. J.R. Smith went 7 of 14 from the three for 25 points to add to the total 19 threes that the Knicks made.

First Beard: James Harden recorded his first career triple double last night against the Charlotte Bobcats. He went for 21 points on 6 of 11 shooting, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in the W. Patrick Patterson dropped in 24 points, as did Chandler Parsons, who also grabbed 10 boards. Some bad news for the Bobcats, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist took a hard during this game, he had to be carried out on a stretcher, it is reported that he has suffered a concussion.
Sneaky: This is what happens when you don't box out, folks.
The Houston commentators just compared Chandler Parsons to Michael Jordan, showing thier extensive knowledge about the NBA.
Highlights
Ricky Rubio everything.
Always Fancy: Ricky Rubio still can not make a normal pass, and we love him for that.
Skyscraper: Everyone benefits from Ricky, even Dante Cunningham, who went for a franchise high, 9 for 9 from the field (most FGM without a miss) in the win against the New Orleans Hornets.

Dikembe Mutombo blocks everything in his new Geico commercial.
Living up North is not perfect. There are times in my life when I wished I lived in the U.S.. Times like, clicking on videos that won't play because it is not available in my location. Times like, going through Canadian Netflix only to find a weak selection of TV shows and movies. And then there are times like, watching a basketball game on TV, only to see the same commercial where a Canadian Ron Swanson wannabe tries to sell you Canadian Whiskey, replay itself during every time out. When in America I would get to watch a 46 year old retired NBA player blocking everything in sight and running around like a kid in a candy store. It is not all good in Canada.
Yes, there is cable in Canada for those who don't know. Every igloo is hooked up. No, the ice do not affect the reception at all.
